2011 is the year of the tablet! With the release of the new iPad2 and Blackberry Playbook, consumer demand for mobile computing has never been higher. The education community has taken notice of the arrival of the tablet as well. Nearly all industry experts agree that mobile devices and applications top the list for emerging trends in education in 2011. Will the tablet be the disruptive technology some hope it will or will it be another passing fad? Given the increasing affordability of mobile devices and advances in cloud computing, most will argue that the tablet and mobile computing will be the catalyst for change in the classroom.
