This Week: Asteroid Mining
Description
Recently, there has been talk of mining asteroids in space. What?! Mining asteroids! While this might seem like crazy talk, some big players are thinking about it to find two things … platinum metals and water.
They’ll mine platinum because of its value and water so that they can split it into hydrogen and oxygen to make rocket fuel (interpret this as a “mobile gas station”).
In this video, Haley talks about what we know and what we don’t about this crazy venture to mine asteroids.

My students and I are in love with Untamed Science! The video clips make for an engaging hook into a lesson- and can also serve as an extension for something that has already been taught. Awesome!
