Pinterest Saves the Day for Crafting in the Classroom: Valentine’s Day Crafts

Today is a day of love, friendship, and thoughtfulness. Yesterday in our OLE Community meeting I was tasked with writing a blog about crafting in the classroom for Valentine’s Day. My naturally eager self thought, Cool…I can do this! However, that feeling of optimism dissipated when I remembered that I don’t have any real skill in the area of arts and crafts. I was definitely in a quagmire: How do I inspire teachers to craft if I have no idea how to craft?

I returned to my desk, feeling rather inadequate and ill-equipped for the task at hand. Then it dawned on me: Why reinvent the wheel? There are plenty of Pinterest users sharing great ideas for Valentine’s Day crafts. I signed in to my account, and with a few clicks I found a very crafty Pinterest user named Sassy Soirees. Jackpot! I found more crafts than I could imagine. Let’s let her page do the talking, or “pinning” as they say in the world of Pinterest. Check out her pinboard Be Mine.

Once you’ve had a chance to check out some fun and engaging Valentine’s Day crafts, let us know what you think and if you decide to try some. We would love (no pun intended) to hear how Valentine’s Day was in your classroom.
